Natural Science has killed Romance — Rationality Made Life Meaningless
3rd February 2023
Romance is not necessarily “love”, Natural Science is not necessarily “natural”. We often “romanticise” Natural Science to be the objective truth in life, but this “romanticisation” has unironically killed the “romance” in our lives. I will go through the definition of romance and Natural Science in-depth and explain why natural science has murdered romance. And finish with a solution to this modern phonenomon.
What is “Romance” — Why is it important for humans to be Romantic
Romance is the prioritisation of emotions and intuition over facts and analysis. Instead of thinking about which girls you should date based on their income, family status, XY, and Z, you value your feelings towards the woman as the primary concern.
Extend this logic to befriending. You should not overanalyse who you should befriend based on the value they can bring to you. Instead of being an over-calculative robot that has no romance, we should embrace the imperfect information in life.
You can’t ever consider every single piece of information in life, and there is no point in being objective. Instead, we should embrace our ignorance, and be romantic.
